1-string can fiddle. aka canophone. pretty easy to make, but a bit tricky to play. I could make you one...for a price...

as simple as it gets. a broom handle and a can, a string and a guitar tuner. The bridge on this one was a cigar tube but it needs replacing. Below is a variation on this theme where I cut a bunch of cans up to make a horn shape and riveted them together. The bigger bell on this one makes it project more and the rivets make a cool distorted rattling sound on certain notes. The medicine cabinet and crutch bass is really fun to play but rather quiet. It's got a mic jammed under the fingerboard for extra juice. I made a whole range of these a couple of years ago. Probably about 10 or 12 in all the smallest being about a foot long and the biggest being the bass. I have shown these pieces in the window at downtown sounds in Northampton a couple of times. Still looking forward to starting a band with them. Any takers? The Tin String Cantette will be the name.
